Psych-K - Everything youo need to know
Psych-K is a form
of personal development that aims to change limiting beliefs at the
subconscious level in order to achieve desired outcomes. It was developed by
Robert M. Williams, a licensed psychotherapist, in the 1980s.
Quote
from Rob Williams, the originator of Psych-k:
"
Psych-k is a set of principles and processes designed to change your
subconscious beliefs that are limiting you from reaching your full potential as
a spiritual being having a human experience"
Here is a breaf explanation in this video:
The basic premise of Psych-K is that the
subconscious mind is responsible for about 95% of an individual's thoughts and
behaviors, and that many of these thoughts and behaviors are the result of
limiting beliefs that have been acquired over time. These beliefs can prevent
an individual from achieving their goals and living a fulfilling life.
Psych-K aims to change these limiting
beliefs through a variety of techniques, including muscle testing (also known
as applied kinesiology).
Muscle testing is simply testing the
reaction of your muscles after stating an affirmation, if your subconscious
mind believes that the affirmation is true, the muscles tend to be strong and
resist the force you are applying on them, on the other hand if your
subconscious mind judges that the information you are affirming is false your
muscles tend to be weak (note that we are talking about subconscious beliefs
here, for example: you may consciously think that you are worthy of love but
your subconscious mind thinks otherwise). So this basic Psych-k muscle testing
could be very useful if you want to know your deep limiting beliefs.
Another psych-k technique is called the
"Balancing Process," it's a technique in which the individual focuses
on a specific belief while physically crossing their arms in a specific way.
The therapist or facilitator then uses muscle testing to determine the strength
of the belief and to identify any imbalances in the energy systems of the body.
After identifying limiting beliefs, the
individual can then use affirmations to replace them with more empowering
beliefs. This process is said to be able to create rapid and lasting changes in
the individual's thoughts, behaviors, and overall quality of life.
One can also learn how to apply these
techniques on them self but it will take some time and practice
While Psych-K has been used to address a
wide range of issues, it is most commonly used to help individuals overcome
limiting beliefs related to self-worth, abundance, relationships, and health.
There is limited scientific research on the
effectiveness of Psych-K, and it should be noted that it is not a replacement
for traditional mental health treatment. However, many people have reported
positive results from using Psych-K and have found it to be a helpful tool in
personal development.
Psych-K is not a substitute for therapy or medical treatment and that it should be used as part of a comprehensive approach to personal development.
